The Unitymedia broadband communication network is one of the most modern in Europe in terms of size, performance and technical development prospects.
Unitymedia operates one of the largest interconnected cable infrastructures that is based on fiber power and passes 12.8 million homes in its footprint. The network is 100% digital and combines maximum transmission capacity, stability and security with high performance and cost-efficiency, demonstrating its speed and capacity advantage over DSL. It is 99% upgraded to the latest EuroDOCSIS 3.0 standard, offering high-speed access to broadband internet and telephony services on top of analog and high-definition television services. Unitymedia not only upgraded all metropolitan areas in North-Rhine Westfalia, Hesse and Baden-Wuerttemberg but also many rural areas.
Thanks to our modern network based on EuroDOCSIS 3.0 technology, we are currently able to offer broadband speeds of up to 400 Mbit/s with no time or data volume restrictions, with the potential to further increase these without substantial network investments. DOCSIS technology is evolving and the next standard EuroDOCSIS 3.1 is expected to increase speeds to 1 Gbps and beyond.
